Senator Blunt’s Response To President Obama’s Decision To Seek Congressional Approval On Syria

WASHINGTON, D.C. – In response to President Barack Obama’s announcement that he will seek congressional approval on Syria, U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.) issued the following statement:

“After weeks of claiming he could and would make this decision on his own, the president's announcement today marks an astonishing change of course. While congressional approval is the best course of action and the right thing to do, it would have been the right course of action months ago.”

Senator Blunt is one of three members to serve on both the defense authorizing and appropriations committees in the U.S. Senate. He also serves as a member of the Appropriations Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs.
