WASHINGTON – This week, U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.), who serves on the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, met with members of the Community Alliance of St. Joseph and the Air National Guard’s 139th Airlift Wing. Blunt released the following statement after the meeting:
“The unique partnership between the Community Alliance of St. Joseph and the Airmen stationed at Rosecrans is hugely beneficial. I’m proud to see how the Community Alliance supports their neighbors at the 139th Airlift Wing and I always look forward to our meeting each year. We had a good discussion about the priorities in the St. Joe community, like infrastructure and historic preservation. I remain committed to supporting the Community Alliance’s efforts to make St. Joe a great place to live and work.”
Rosecrans Air National Guard Base in St. Joseph is the country’s premier Air Guard training center for Advanced Airlift Tactics. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, Senator Blunt successfully advocated for additional funding for C-130 modernization in the FY2019 Defense Appropriations bill. This modernization met Air National Guard intra-airlift mobility requirements.
