Blunt Statement on Government Funding Vote

January 22, 2018

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.) released the following statement after voting in favor of legislation to fund the government through February 8th and extend funding for the Children’s Health Insurance Program for six years. The House is expected to vote on the measure shortly, sending the bill to the president’s desk.

“Senate Democrats’ government shutdown did nothing but delay progress on important issues that need to be addressed,” Blunt said. “It’s imperative that we immediately get back to work on several priorities we have in front of us, including extending funding for community health centers, increasing resources to combat the opioid epidemic, reaching a budget deal, and resolving the status of young people in the DACA program. After this completely needless exercise in obstruction, I hope our colleagues across the aisle will work with us to do the job the people we work for expect us to do."
