January 28, 2020

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.) released the following statement commending President Trump’s announcement that he has appointed Riley James of New Madrid, Mo., to serve as a member of the Mississippi River Commission (MRC):

“As a seventh generation farmer, business owner, and ag community leader, Riley James is a great pick for the Mississippi River Commission. He has decades of first-hand experience working with the Corps, its districts, and the MRC to address major flood control and river management issues impacting Mississippi River Valley farms, businesses, and families. His extensive knowledge of the area and its history will be an asset to the commission as it works to enhance safety and economic development throughout the Mississippi River Valley.”

James currently serves as Vice President of the Little River Drainage District, previously served as President/Chairman of the St. John Levee & Drainage District, and serves on the boards of the Mississippi Valley Flood Control Association, the Southern Cotton Ginners Association and the Cotton Board. He also serves as CEO and Manager of his family’s farming operation, A.C. Riley Cotton Company. In 2016, the Missouri Department of Agriculture awarded James the Missouri Agriculture Legacy Award.
