WASHINGTON
– Today, U.S.
Senators Roy Blunt (Mo.) and Josh Hawley (Mo.) announced that the Senate
unanimously approved a resolution honoring the Northwest Missouri State
University men's basketball team for winning its second NCAA Division II
national championship.
“The Bearcats were unstoppable this season,
earning another national championship and finishing the year with a perfect
record,” said Blunt. “Congratulations to the players, coaches, and fans on
another great season. I look forward to seeing what this team can accomplish
next year.”
“Missouri is proud of the Bearcats’ fantastic
season, and we congratulate them on everything they were able to accomplish as
a team,” said Hawley. “The effort and determination by these young men does not
go unnoticed. Keep up the great work and good luck next year!”
In March, the men's basketball team won its second
NCAA Division II national championship when it defeated Point Loma, becoming
only the fifth program to win a national championship and finish the season
with a perfect record. In March 2017, the men’s basketball team won its
first NCAA championship.
