Senator Blunt Applauds Bipartisan Passage Of Permanent Student Loan Fix

July 25, 2013

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.) applauded the Senate passage of the “Bipartisan Student Loan Certainty Act of 2013" which he co-sponsored. The bill provides a permanent solution that would lower and fix interest rates for 100 percent of newly issued student loans.

Before serving in Congress, Blunt was a high school and college history teacher, and he served for four years as the president of his alma mater, Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Mo.

“I’m glad members on both sides of the aisle were able to work together to reach this bipartisan solution and finally give students more long-term certainty and access to lower rates,” said Blunt. “Instead of a year-by-year band-aid, this bill will provide a permanent fix to the student loan problem moving forward and guarantee that everyone who gets a student loan will benefit from these changes.”
