October 14, 2015

WASHINGTON D.C. – U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.) today hosted Japanese Ambassador Sasae for a day-long tour of facilities with an emphasis on agriculture and agribusiness including the Danforth Plant Science Center, Monsanto Headquarters, Novus International. They also participated in the Agri-Business Roundtable, hosted by the World Trade Center and will attend a dinner hosted by Civic Progress.

“Agriculture is our state’s number one industry, and Missouri agriculture plays an important part in the nation’s economy,” said Blunt. “I was honored to host Japanese Ambassador Sasae today for a day-long tour of some of Missouri’s agriculture facilities to show firsthand the impact Missouri’s farmers, ranchers, and agribusiness have on our economy and food supply in America and across the world. I’m proud of our state’s footprint in agriculture and will continue working to support the agriculture industry in Missouri and nationwide.”

Blunt has been a long-time supporter of the agriculture industry. As a member of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies, Blunt successfully pushed for a number of critical priorities in the committee-passed spending bill for fiscal year 2016.
