Senator Blunt On Budget Delays: “We Can’t Wait”

Blunt Calls On President Obama, Senate Democrats To Work Together To Pass A Budget That Jumpstarts Job Creation

January 24, 2012

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.) issued the following statement today regarding President Barack Obama’s delayed submission of his budget to Congress and the 1,000th day since the Democrat-controlled U.S. Senate passed a budget:

“To quote President Obama: ‘We can’t wait.’ As Americans face high unemployment and record debt, they’re expecting leadership in Washington. They can’t afford another delay.

“Families and job creators need President Obama to submit a budget on time that cuts out-of-control spending and record debt. And after 1,000 days, they need the Democrat-controlled Senate to stop stalling and pass a budget that will help jumpstart our economy.

“I stand ready to work with the President and my colleagues on the other side of the aisle to pass a budget that will move our nation forward without raising taxes on job creators who are still struggling to make ends meet.

“I hope the President and Senate Democrat leaders will embrace their own mantra and say ‘yes we can’ to working with Republicans in Congress to accomplish this important task.”
