Senator Blunt Praises House Passage of Bipartisan JOBS Act

March 08, 2012

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.) issued the following statement today after the U.S. House of Representatives passed the “Jumpstart Our Business Startups” (JOBS) Act, bipartisan legislation supported by President Barack Obama to help small businesses grow and create jobs:

“Small businesses and entrepreneurs are the foundation for our economic success, opportunity, and job creation. But right now, red tape and uncertainty in Washington threaten the confidence and certainty job creators need to take risks and create small businesses or startup companies.

“Instead of stifling entrepreneurship and private sector job creation with onerous and costly regulatory barriers, we should promote pro-growth policies that increase opportunities for Americans to do what they do best – create, innovate, and lead.

“We must work on a bipartisan basis to find areas of common ground to get our economy back on track, and the JOBS Act is a great step in the right direction. I’m proud to cosponsor this bill in the Senate, and I’m hopeful Majority Leader Reid and my colleagues who control the Senate will take up this common-sense package so we can jumpstart private sector job creation without further delay.”
