Senator Blunt's Statement on Continuing Resolution Vote in the Senate

September 30, 2015

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.) released the following statement today regarding the continuing resolution vote in the Senate:

“I oppose this continuing resolution because it is just more of the same: more of President Obama’s spending priorities. Last year I opposed significant parts of this spending because of the president’s executive amnesty scheme. Missourians are sick of Congress continuing to kick the can down the road for future generations. I look forward to working on and supporting funding bills that reflect our conservative priorities. We should defund Planned Parenthood once and for all and reallocate those tax dollars to providers who really do focus on protecting women’s health, like community health centers."

The Senate passed a continuing resolution today which will temporarily fund government programs at previous levels while Congress continues to work on appropriations legislation. The Senate Appropriations Committee has passed all twelve appropriations bills and all are ready for floor consideration. Senate Democrats this year have twice blocked floor consideration of the Defense Appropriations bill.
