May 22, 2015

WASHINGTON, D.C. – As our nation prepares for Memorial Day, U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.) spoke on the U.S. Senate floor to honor America’s veterans and active duty service members. Blunt also expressed his concerns with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for failing to provide quality health care for our nation’s heroes.

This week, Blunt and U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill (Mo.) sent a letter to VA Secretary Robert McDonald expressing their frustration at the lack of a permanent head of the facility, which provides mental and physical health care services to almost 46,000 veterans each year. Earlier this week, Blunt and McCaskill also wrote a letter to the Acting Medical Center Director at the St. Louis VA to express concerns regarding the findings in the VA watchdog’s Combined Assessment Program report.
