Blunt Commends FCC Action to Roll Back Misguided Internet Regulations

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.), a member of the Senate Commerce Committee, today applauded the Federal Communications Commission’s announcement that it will begin steps to repeal or revise its 2015 Open Internet Order. The order gave the FCC the ability to regulate today’s competitive broadband marketplace like a monopoly-era utility.

“The Obama administration’s internet regulations were a solution in search of a problem,” Blunt said. “For decades, the internet flourished under a bipartisan, light-touch regulatory approach, creating millions of jobs and generating nearly $1 trillion in economic investment. I’m encouraged to see the FCC, under the chairmanship of Ajit Pai, signal a return to that approach. I look forward to continuing to work with my colleagues on the committee to advance solutions that will protect consumers, ensure an open internet, and provide the certainty the broadband marketplace needs to continue creating jobs and driving economic growth.”
