WASHINGTON, DC – Yesterday, U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.) sent a letter to the U.S. Small Business Administration urging the agency to promptly begin assessing and responding to damage caused by historic flooding across large portions of the state. Blunt welcomed the SBA’s announcement today that it will begin a preliminary damage assessment this Thursday, January 7, in coordination with the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the State of Missouri.
“Missouri’s small businesses are the cornerstone of our state’s economy, and I will continue working to ensure they have the resources they need to recover from this historic flooding. I am pleased that the SBA will soon begin assessing the damage, and I urge the agency to provide the individual assistance necessary to help our small business owners re-open their doors.”
Last week, Blunt met with local officials and military personnel in Perry County, Cape Girardeau, and St. Charles to assess flood damage and discuss efforts to keep Missourians safe.
