Blunt: President Trump’s Roundtable Highlights Major, Positive Impact Tax Reform Is Having on Hardworking Missourians

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.) released the following statement today on President Trump’s tax reform roundtable in St. Louis:

“The hardworking men and women who shared their stories at President Trump’s roundtable in St. Louis made one thing clear: the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act is having a major, positive impact on families and our economy. We heard from one mother and veteran who is putting money away for her daughter’s college to give her the opportunity to succeed. We heard from another mother who used her bonus to defray travel costs when her daughter faced a medical emergency. We heard from a construction company owner whose employees have more confidence their pensions will be there for them when they retire. As College of the Ozarks President Jerry Davis put it, this is a lot more than ‘crumbs.’

“More than 4.5 million Americans have received bonuses or other benefits because of tax reform. The vast majority of employees should be taking home more money in their paychecks thanks to the law’s lower tax rates. I’m confident there will be more good news ahead as tax reform continues promoting new investment and fueling economic optimism. I appreciate President Trump once again visiting our state, and look forward to continuing our work to strengthen our economy and expand opportunity for Missourians.”
