Blunt Shares Stories from Missourians to Underscore Harmful Impact of Obamacare

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.) yesterday joined U.S. Senator John Barrasso (Wyo.) on the Senate floor to address the disastrous impact Obamacare is having in Missouri and across the nation. In his remarks, Blunt underscored several of the law’s failures, including:

  • Fewer Options: Contrary to President Obama’s repeated promises that this law would expand choice and allow Americans to keep the plans and doctors they liked and could afford, Blunt noted that 97 out of Missouri’s 114 counties and the City of St. Louis will have only one insurer option this year. • Skyrocketing Deductibles: “There’s nothing affordable about the Affordable Care Act,” says Mark from Blue Springs, MO. As Blunt noted, Mark’s out of pocket costs have skyrocketed under Obamacare, especially when it comes to the $8,000 deductible he has to meet before he’s even able to use his insurance. Blunt shared Mark’s story, along with the stories of several other Missourians who are struggling under the law. [VIDEO]
  • Higher Taxes: Blunt highlighted the numerous tax hikes that were included in Obamacare and would be repealed under the American Health Care Act that is currently moving through Congress. Blunt also reiterated several solutions he’s supported that would provide better access to quality, affordable health care, including expanding HSAs, allowing children to remain on their parents’ insurance longer, and ensuring coverage for people with pre-existing conditions.
