WASHINGTON – Yesterday, U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.), chairman of the Senate Commerce Subcommittee on Aviation Operations, Safety, and Security, questioned Brian Weiler, Director of Aviation at Springfield-Branson National Airport, regarding airport security.
The hearing followed Wednesday’s introduction of the TSA Modernization Act, which Blunt introduced with Senators John Thune (S.D.), Bill Nelson (Fla.), and Maria Cantwell (Wash.). The measure includes reforms of the Transportation Security Administration’s organizational structure, provisions to advance development and acquisition of new security technologies, improvements of public area security, and pathways to mitigate frustrating security delays.
