The U.S. Capitol is among the most architecturally impressive and symbolically important buildings in the world. It has housed the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives for almost two centuries. Starting in 1793, the Capitol was built, burnt, rebuilt, extended, and restored. Today it stands as a working monument to the American people and our federal government. The U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives chambers are open to the public. Feel free to ask Senator Blunt’s staff for passes to visit both chambers.
